An observation-based drawing class with instruction by artist Michael O’Keefe. This five-session program, ideal for both beginners and experienced artists, will investigate foundational ideas of the language of drawing.
Participants will use the sculpture, galleries and garden of the Nasher Sculpture Center as the subject for a series of drawings exploring ideas of perspective, the figure/ground relationship, volume and contour, reduction and artistic handwriting. Each session will begin with a brief introduction to the day’s topic, followed by time spent drawing with instruction.
Session 1: February 10 / 1-4pm Perspective; To See Clearly
Session 2: March 17 / 1-4pm Figure/Ground; Object/Space
Session 3: April 14 / 1-4pm Volume/Form/Contour
Session 4: May 12 / 1-4pm Reduction
Session 5: June 2 / 1-4pm Handwriting

About Michael O’Keefe
Michael O'Keefe is a Dallas-based artist, working in the fields of drawing, painting and sculpture. His work is represented locally by Valley House Gallery and Sculpture Garden. O'Keefe is the primary instructor at The O'Keefe Studio Center, an art space in Richardson, Texas, dedicated to providing professional development and educational opportunities in the fine arts for individuals of all ages, backgrounds and skill levels.
