Join us at the Trinity River Audubon Center for an introduction to nature journaling with local watercolor and installation artist, Isabel Lee-Rosson.
The workshop will begin with instruction on different techniques for documenting and taking inspiration from nature, including printmaking, sketching, and watercolor painting. We will then take our sketchbooks out into the landscape for a bird walk and nature hike, enjoying the trails and practicing observational artmaking in the wild. We will explore the various native plants and habitats at the Audubon Center and search for the bird species that utilize them.
This workshop is designed for all skill levels, from curious beginners to experienced artists. All materials will be provided, but guests are welcome to bring their personal art supplies as well.
$30 for Nasher Members, $40 for nonmembers. Advance registration is required. Space is limited. This event will happen rain or shine.
About Isabel Lee-Rosson
Isabel is an artist and art historian from Abilene who lives in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. Her works on paper explore textures and flora of threatened habitats. Her practice extends beyond the studio to guerrilla gardens and installations in the tradition of Land Art. These installations increase biodiversity, improve soil health, and highlight harmful land management practices. Lee-Rosson earned a Master of Art in Art History, Criticism, and Conservation from the University of North Texas in 2017 and a Bachelor of Fine Art in Two-Dimensional Design from Abilene Christian University in 2015. She is the Manager of Visitor Experience at the Nasher Sculpture Center in Dallas, Texas.
