Thank you for your interest in volunteering at the Nasher Sculpture Center!  We are so excited to have you share your love of art and commitment to arts organizations. As a volunteer you will attend social and instructive events, engage with stimulating, like minded art enthusiasts, explore new hobbies and interests, and learn new skills. Our volunteers help our organization engage with our visitors and guests in a collaborative way, within a stimulating art environment.

Basic duties of a Volunteer

The most vital role of the volunteer is to be outgoing, have a customer service focus and enjoy working with diverse people. In addition to these important skills, we ask that our volunteers also:

  • Are familiar with and can clearly communicate to visitors about galleries, exhibitions, upcoming events and general information.
  • Display flexibility, respect and responsibility with each other, staff and the public.
  • Provide guests with dynamic and meaningful experiences that support our goals and standards.
  • Provide a broad range of information about the Nasher Sculpture Center and general information about downtown Dallas and the Arts District to guests.
  • Help guests understand the Nasher Sculpture Center by offering guides and pamphlets.
  • Meet and greet guests at public and private events.
  • Assist the Nasher Sculpture Center staff with needs at the Admissions desk or at public events.

Other duties as they arise.

Interested in Volunteering?

Nasher Sculpture Center volunteers take the initiative to work with other volunteers and staff to provide excellent visitor experiences! They are outgoing and enjoy listening to and engaging in conversation with people of all ages, cultures, and backgrounds. Volunteers come to us with either an expressed interest in specific functions or through a general interest in volunteering, which will later be matched with a specific need.

The Nasher Sculpture Center would like volunteers to commit for a minimum of six months, but prefers volunteers who can commit to a year or more of service. However, we do make exceptions for Summer Student Volunteers and Corporate Volunteers. All volunteers will be trained by Visitor Experiences staff and do not require an educational background in the arts, although interest in museums, sculpture, and art history is certainly beneficial.

Qualified volunteers should be at least 18 years of age and will need to clear a federal background check. Volunteers shall be recruited without regard to race, color, national origin, gender, age, marital status, sexual preference, and/or disability.

The Nasher Sculpture Center welcomes those who are interested in sharing their appreciation for the Collection and giving back to our community.  If you are interested in joining the Nasher’s Volunteer Team, please email Randy Guthmiller at [email protected].
