The Nasher Sculpture Center Promotes Vanessa Hadox to Director of Development

Hadox, who has been with the Nasher since 2021, began her new role on January 1, 2026

DALLAS, Texas (January 12, 2026) – The Nasher Sculpture Center announces the promotion of Vanessa Hadox to Director of Development. She was promoted from her previous position as Director of Development for Institutional Giving, where she co-led the Nasher’s development efforts and served on the executive management team. Since joining the Nasher in 2021, Hadox has had an extraordinary impact on the center’s fundraising success, strategic positioning, and long-term sustainability.

During her tenure, Hadox led a record-breaking institutional exhibition fundraising effort for Groundswell: Women of Land Art, securing nearly $700,000 from foundations and government agencies. This included several notable awards, among them one of the largest grants given that year to any organization in the state by the Texas Commission on the Arts. She secured more than $250,000 in grant funding for Nasher Public: Urban Historical Recognition and Reclamation, a public project led by artist, activist, and curator Vicki Meek in Dallas’s Tenth Street Historic District Freedman's Town. She also prepared the Nasher for its first-ever successful application to the City of Dallas Office of Arts and Culture’s Cultural Organizations Program—an accomplishment that resulted in the recent unrestricted, multiyear grant totaling $375,000. Additionally, she’s made meaningful impacts toward critical infrastructure and equipment needs, raising over one million dollars to support renovations, equipment, and a new website—improvements made possible through significant support from the Helen Frankenthaler Foundation, Bloomberg Philanthropies, the Hillcrest Foundation, and two anonymous foundations.

Outside of her work for the Nasher, Hadox is a leader in the broader arts and philanthropy community. In 2014 she co-founded the NYU Museum Studies Alumni Association, advised participants in the New York Foundation for the Arts Emerging Leaders Program from 2018 to 2020, and participated in the Emerging Leaders in Philanthropy Program at the Communities Foundation of Texas in 2023. She currently serves as Vice President of the Board of Texas Vignette, a nonprofit that supports women artists based in the state.

Hadox holds an MA in Museum Studies from NYU and a BA in History from the University of California, Irvine. She has guest lectured at UNT, SMU, and the Van Alen Institute; presented at conferences for the Art Museum Development Association and the Association of Fundraising Professionals; and has frequently served as a panelist and proposal evaluator, most recently for the City of Dallas Office of Arts and Culture and the Texas Commission on the Arts. She holds a CFRE, a prestigious certification recognizing professional achievement, continuing education, and ethical fundraising practice.

“We are thrilled to continue benefiting from Vanessa’s expertise, dedication, and vision as she leads the Nasher’s development efforts into an exciting new chapter,” says Director Carlos Basualdo.
