The Nasher Prize Graduate Symposium will take place virtually from January 17–20, 2023. The multi-day event will address a broad audience of art historians and museum professionals, allowing symposium participants to receive feedback from fellow presenters, the moderator, the keynote speaker, and audience members. This year’s symposium will be moderated by Dr. Lauren Cross, Assistant Professor, Interdisciplinary Art and Design Studies, College of Visual Arts & Design, University of North Texas. Students selected to participate will have their papers published in the annual Nasher Prize Graduate Symposium Compendium, together with a paper delivered by the keynote speaker, Kellie Jones, Hans Hofmann Professor of Modern Art at Columbia University.
The Nasher Prize Graduate Symposium, started in 2017, provides graduate students from around the world with the opportunity to present new scholarship on the work of each year’s laureate. A weeklong virtual event, the symposium is one of the key ways that the Nasher Sculpture Center encourages the creation of new research on the practice of contemporary sculpture.

The Nasher Prize is awarded annually to an artist whose body of work has had an extraordinary impact on our understanding of sculpture. Each year’s Nasher Prize laureate is selected by an international jury of esteemed museum directors, curators, scholars, and artists. A full season of diverse programming inspired by the laureate – discussions and lectures, family and student programs, community partnerships, and more – engage thousands of art lovers in Dallas and far beyond, both in-person and virtually. Then, the celebration culminates with the Nasher Prize Award Gala, held at the Nasher Sculpture Center each April.

El Simposio de Graduados del Premio Nasher tendrá lugar virtualmente del 17 al 20 de Enero de 2023. El evento, de varios días de duración, se dirigirá a una amplia audiencia de historiadores del arte y profesionales de los museos, lo que permitirá a los participantes en el simposio recibir comentarios de sus compañeros presentadores, del moderador, del orador principal y de los miembros del público. Los estudiantes seleccionados para presentar ponencias también verán su trabajo publicado en el compendio anual del simposio, junto con la presentación presentada por el ponente principal.
