Virtual ‘til Midnight: Dezi 5
June 18, 7:30 p.m.
Big D native Dezi 5, a.k.a. Dezman Lehman, returns to Dallas to join the Dallas Arts District Pride Party+ celebrations with a Virtual 'til Midnight performance. Before heading to New York to pursue his musical career, Dezi 5 kept dance floors alive in Dallas' hottest LGBTQ+ clubs, but in 2020 returned to Dallas to film the music video for then newly-released "Lady"—a classic R&B track inspired by another beloved fixture of the local community, and founder of Vern's Place in Deep Ellum, his late grandmother. For this celebratory weekend, Dezi 5 and his band will perform "Planet 3 to Planet 4", to be released with the upcoming album.

Watch the digital premiere on the Nasher YouTube channel.

Artist on Art: Molly Sydnor
June 16, 12–1 p.m.
Molly Sydnor, a multidisciplinary fine artist and the director of the queer women’s collective LQC Dallas, will join on us on Instagram Live for Artist on Art. In responding to Shelia Hicks’s Menhir, on view in Nasher Mixtape, Sydnor will consider the process of fiber art in Hicks’s work and her own.

Nasher Public: Jer’Lisa Devezin Kept Performances
June 3, 10, 19, 12–12:30 p.m.
Beaucoup Shive / Madam C.J. Walker ain’t got nothin’ on me is Devezin’s first soft sculpture and her largest work to date. To maintain the appearance of Beaucoup Shive…, Devezin will perform Kept once a week throughout the run of her Nasher Public exhibition. Ranging from 30 to 60 minutes, Kept is a series of durational performances during which Devezin treats the sculpture with such common Black hairstyling products as beeswax and styling spritz, and using techniques like hair rolling with hot water to ensure the sculpture maintains its overall shape and aesthetic while on view.
