“Castaway Culture” featuring artists Michael Corris and Bret Slater
If you were to be stranded on a desert island, what artworks would you insist on taking with you? Michael Corris poses this conundrum to Bret Slater in our August Gallery Lab. Join us for an open and informal discussion that promises to be full of surprises and revelations.
Michael Corris (image on the right) is Chair of the Division of Art, Meadows School of the Arts at Southern Methodist University. An artist and writer on art, Corris has exhibited internationally and his artwork and book works may be found in public and private collections worldwide including the Museum of Modern Art, New York; Victoria and Albert Museum, London; and the Getty Research Institute, Los Angeles.
Bret Slater (image on the left) is a 2011 graduate of the MFA program at the Meadows School of the Arts who has gained attention on the national and international art scene. Slater’s work has recently been featured in solo exhibitions at Elaine Lévy Projects, Brussels; Marty Walker Gallery, Dallas; Thomas Robertello Gallery, Chicago; and in Michael Corris’s Free Museum of Dallas at SMU.
