Found Object Art

Service Learning Project

September 1, 2009 - May 31, 2013

A collaboration between the Nasher Sculpture Center, Dallas ISD and La Reunion TX.  From 2009 - 2013, Found Object Art combined service, culture and self-expression to create meaningful student experiences.

Participating high school students learned how found objects are transformed into works of art by taking part in a site clean-up at La Reunion TX, viewing modern and contemporary found object sculptures at the Nasher Sculpture Center, and using the objects they gathered during their clean-up to create their own sculptures for an exhibition in the Nasher classroom.
