The Nasher Foundation is headed by founding Chairman and President Raymond D. Nasher. Among the goals of the Foundation are: to care for and preserve the Patsy R. and Raymond D. Nasher Collection and to enhance its accessibility to the public; to foster scholarly research into the interpretation of Modern and contemporary sculpture; to support research studies on the conservation of sculpture; to support art education programs; and to develop other programs, principally in the arts, but also in public policy, medical research and education. The Foundation's program is internally developed.

The Foundation's major project to date is the development of the Nasher Sculpture Center, a new institution dedicated to the display and study of modern Sculpture. The Center, now under construction in the downtown Dallas Arts District, is designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architect Renzo Piano in collaboration with noted landscape architect Peter Walker. The Center will include a garden and building for the display of the widely acclaimed Raymond and Patsy Nasher Collection.

Steven A. Nash, Associate Director and Chief Curator of the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco and former Deputy Director and Chief Curator of the Dallas Museum of Art, has been named the director of the Center.

In announcing the election of the Board, Mr. Nasher said, "With the beginning of the construction of the Nasher Sculpture Center last January, The Nasher Foundation is moving into a new phase where a broad range of knowledge and experience is needed on the Board for us to realize our goals. My family and I are extremely fortunate in having such esteemed colleagues as Jim Lehrer, John Heimann, Steve Stamas, Bill Jordan and Elliot Cattarulla to help us direct the work of The Foundation. In their respective national and international careers, they have accomplished much. I'm certain that their direct involvement in the governance of The Nasher Foundation and the Nasher Sculpture Center will prove invaluable."
