3/2/2005 12:00:00 AM
Dallas, Texas, March 2, 2005 ? Dallas has new cultural nightlife debuting this spring at the Nasher Sculpture Center. Beginning in April with the newly placed Jonathan Borofsky piece Walking to the Sky soaring above the garden, Center guests will experience the museum in a whole new fashion with extended hours, artist inspired cocktails and dining menus, live music, gallery discussions and much more.
The two exciting evening programs, Saturday Night in the City and Thursday Night in the Center, will provide those interested in a fresh nighttime outing with a fun and interesting activity right in the center of downtown Dallas.
Saturday Night in the City
The Nasher Sculpture Center will become the place to be seen every Saturday beginning April 2 through June 25 (except for May 28) at Saturday Night in the City. With extended hours until 11 p.m., the Center will take on a new attitude as Caf?ansion is transformed into a chic lounge with oversized couches, plush chairs and mushroom ottomans. Center-inspired cocktails and a new tasting menu that celebrates a different artist each week will be offered, including wine flights, cheese plates, a tasting platter and wonderful desserts.
As the sun begins to set, it is primetime to view the James Turrell Skyspace, Tending, (Blue). By providing an interior light calculated at a certain color temperature, Turrell conditions the eye in a way that affects one?s perception of the sky?s color, distance, and density.
Gallery talks will inform visitors while live music on the Terrace and in the downstairs Nasher Hall will provide additional ambiance to the already spectacular Center. Guests will experience the Center as it takes on a different feel at night with the warm lighting inside the galleries and the soft lighting outside in the garden. With the towering buildings of downtown Dallas overlooking the Center, guests can enjoy peaceful strolls in the urban garden oasis.?
Thursday Night in the Center
Debuting April 14 through June 23, Thursday Night in the Center will offer patrons a chance to do something different during the workweek. With free admission and extended hours from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m., the Nasher Sculpture Center invites visitors to experience its new NasherNightlife.
Live music will entertain guests on the Terrace while they enjoy cocktails and dinner from the swanky redesigned Caf?ansion. Thursday nights will also feature the debut of the Nasher Salon. This casual lounge provides a new opportunity for the culturally inquisitive to learn and engage in discussions about art and its varied forms of expression and how they are all connected in our daily life. In April and May, the Center will also host a free Thursday evening Modern and Contemporary Sculpture Lecture featuring guest scholars from around the country.
Saturday Night in the City and Thursday Night in the Center will be weekly must-see events this spring. With the gorgeous Texas weather and the garden at night, everyone will want to experience the Nasher Nightlife.
